Since the advent of mobile phones a couple of decades ago, communication has increased by leaps and bounds. The Mobile Phone has made the world a smaller, smarter, faster place. People can talk to someone halfway across the world at the touch of a button. E-mails are sent across through wireless internet , pictures, songs, videos transferred between mobiles with the use of the Bluetooth technology, High quality images are captures using camera phones, etc. These gadgets have come and replaced a lot many other devices which is precisely why they are so popular.
But the negatives it carries balances out the progress it has created. These technological advancements have made us very dependent on this tiny inanimate widget. There are people who just cannot imagine their lives without the mobile phone, and this has increased to such an extent that people have phobia’s about losing their mobiles, their contact information, etc. Such dependence on any machine is definitely unhealthy.
Recently, with the availability of the new camera mobile phones, serious debates have triggered, over the intrusion of privacy. People have often been caught indulging into cheap acts of intruding into the personal lives of other people and ruining them. They also pose a major security threat. Since these are advanced machines, therefore with a some manipulation can be transformed into deadly weapons. For example, during the London Bombing in 7/07/05 mobile network were disabled by the authorities who tried to pre-empt the use of this type of threat. The Madrid bombing in 2004 was triggered by a mobile phone device!
Thus, while it brings with it many many uses, it also has resulted in several unwanted repercussions. Finally the choice depends on the user, and what use he wants to bring his mobile to.
